Rizzardi GR 63 (19 m), the magnificent pure open

Gianfranco Rizzardi, who founded the shipyard of the same name and is honored with the Rizzardi GR63, one of the models that has stirred up the most controversy in Cannes and Genoa, deserves some of the responsibility for the large Italian open’s legendary status as a totem of the dolce vida.

GR63 Rizzardi

With its elegant lines, recognizable design, and attention-grabbing features, the GR63 is surely one of those boats that draws attention. It blends the best technology available at the moment with classic brands and excellent looks as an homage to the past. Unquestionably captivating, quick, and meticulous in every way, it is likely the most recent Open to be shown. It is a boat designed to satisfy every demand of the owner, who is actually embroidered around it. It is powered by shaftline and is available in full open or rollbar varieties. Now, though, let’s examine the characteristics of the model that was on display at the 62nd Genoa International Boat Show.

GR 63 Rizzardi – Exterior

The GR 63 welcomes with recognizable, edgy lines, yet it does so while retaining a look and effect that don’t conjure an outmoded ideal. Instead, it mixes the traditional with contemporary aesthetics, utility, and technology. It is a design that catches the eye and leaves a satisfying impression.

The wide swim platform that accommodates the stern is the main feature, and two broadside stairs leading to the cockpit or straight to the bow surround it. A sizable opening in the center hides a storage space, and underneath the cockpit sundeck, instead of the garage for the tender, is a separate owner’s cabin that can be accessed through a sizable hole in the cockpit. A huge C-shaped sofa and a central table complete the cockpit’s layout. On the other half of the room is a kitchen cabinet that may be personalized to the user’s preferences. The wheelhouse, which is immediately beyond it and has all the newest amenities, is highly technologically sophisticated and intuitive. The decision to add some analog dials here, which serve as a reminder that the line is, after all, influenced by a more traditional past, is iconic.

A large drawer refrigerator can be found under the double seat in the wheelhouse, and there is access to the below decks in the center of the boat. We find long, narrow surfaces in the bow that are reminiscent of the traditional openings of the past and are accessible both from the cockpit and immediately from the swim platform. A very big sundeck has been built out here, and two walkthroughs—one at the far bow leading to exclusive crew quarters—allow natural light to illuminate the interior.

Interior of the Rizzardi GR 63

First, we find a double master cabin that is reached through a hatch cut into the cockpit sundeck. The wealth of space generated here, as well as the incredibly ample height, are both unexpected. A huge double bed and a separate bathroom are placed here. On the other hand, the interior spaces in the forward section of the ship, which are accessible from the bridge, are instantly home to a living room and a well-equipped kitchen. As we move toward the bow, we discover a second double master stateroom that is enormous and full beam. Of course, this also features private bathrooms with walk-in showers. The smaller bedroom, which has two single beds and a complete private bathroom, is located on the starboard side of the living space.

GR 63 Rizzardi – Motorization

The Rizzardi GR 63, in keeping with tradition and drawing inspiration from the famous vehicles of the 1980s, mounts MAN shaftline motorization and comes standard with a 1200 horsepower V8 that may be upgraded to 1300 if desired. The GR 63 ensures distinctly enviable speeds with cruising speeds of 32 knots and peaks of 37 knots in the first case and 33 and 38 knots in the second case, respectively, thanks to the combination of these engines with an incredibly high-performance hull. It provides varied time at sea with a tank capacity of up to 2650 gallons and ensures its safety through performance lines, top-notch technology advancements, and a recognized Class A Design Category.
